Current meter

Current meters and open channel meters have been a specialty of Valeport since the company was first formed in 1969. The company began by making instruments to measure water velocity in the River Thames in London; since then our product range has grown, but our expertise in current flow measurement remains. Whatever type of instrument you need, whether it's the traditional impeller mechanism or the high-precision electromagnetic type, Valeport can offer a solution. Configurations are available that are suitable for use in a wide variety of applications, from handheld measurements in the smallest streams, through modeling experiments in the laboratory, to stand-alone instruments for navigable rivers, estuaries, ROVs and the deep ocean.
CTDs

CTDs are perhaps the most commonly used tool in an oceanographer's arsenal, providing detailed profiling and time-series data on measured parameters such as Conductivity, Temperature, and Pressure, but more particularly the calculated values of Salinity, Density, and Sound Velocity. Valeport offers a selection of instruments, from simple plug-in sensors for OEM applications to portable systems and multi-parameter profiling systems for deep-ocean applications. All Valeport CTDs use their own inductive conductivity sensors. Digital sampling techniques ensure high accuracy, and the unique construction offers sensor stability at any depth. Temperature is always measured with a fast-response PRT (Platinum Resistance Thermometer), and the instruments also use industry-standard strain gauges or resonant quartz pressure sensors.
Bathymeters

Bathymetry: the science of depth measurement. Whether you are surveying, dredging, or managing underwater operations, accurate bathymetric data is critical, be it the overall water depth or the location of specific instrumentation within the water column. Valeport offers a variety of integrated instrumentation packages designed to deliver high-quality data, whatever the application. Valeport's unique digital signal processing techniques use fuzzy logic to pick and latch onto genuine echoes, while automatic power and gain control means that erratic echoes are minimized and accurate readings can be taken in water depths as shallow as 30 cm. As a standalone altimeter, this technology is ideal for integration into bathymetry packages. The combination of this technology with an integral GPS receiver and onboard data logging provides our echo sounders with the benefits of maximum versatility and minimum deployment time.
Speed of Sound Sensor

Valeport's sound velocity sensors are world leaders in Sound Velocity technology, a position achieved through both innovative development and meticulous attention to detail throughout the design, manufacturing, and especially calibration processes. Having been established at the forefront of this field for almost a decade with Digital Time of Flight technology, Valeport has now made a series of incremental changes to reinforce this position, ensuring that Valeport SV sensors offer performance levels that are demonstrably far beyond the latest offerings from our competitors.

AML-1

The AML-1 is a single sensor probe with flexibility in data acquisition. AML’s modular approach to sensor installation means that a single AML-1 can be used to collect conductivity, sound velocity, turbidity, pH or any other desired parameter. The AML-1 has a sensor port on the cover. Some sensors, such as the CT and SVT, are dual parameter. This means that in fixed depth applications, the AML-1 can be used to measure CT and calculate salinity and density.
AML-3

The AML-3 is one of the most versatile multi-sensor oceanographic instruments currently available. The AML-3 has three sensor ports on the cover; the sensor payload is modular and can be swapped in the field to meet project requirements. Some sensors, such as the CT and SVT, are dual-parameter, allowing direct measurement of up to four distinct parameters from the instrument cover. In addition, the AML-3 calculates salinity and density.
AML-6

The AML-6 is a multiparameter sonar designed to combine CTD data with other oceanographic parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, ORP or fluorometric sensors. This instrument has six sensor ports on the cover; the sensor payload is modular and can be swapped in the field to meet project requirements. The AML-6 can be equipped with UV biofouling control, ensuring data quality and extended maintenance-free periods without contaminating the oceans with TBT or other harmful chemicals.
